Where to stay in the Tirthan valley — Jibhi, Shoja, Gushaini, Nagini, Sharchi and Banjar, honestly compared

Two sides of one town

The valley's beds sit on two roads out of Banjar: the pass road up to Jibhi and Shoja, and the river road to Nagini, Gushaini and the villages above them. They are about half an hour apart by road, and the choice between them is the choice between a village with cafés and a river with homestays. Prices below are typical bands as of September 2026, quoted on the day; we do not sell any of them and take no bookings.

Jibhi — cafés, guesthouses, the pass road

Wooden guesthouses along a stream, 7 km and 14 minutes above Banjar, with cafés on the water, the waterfall a short walk from the bridge and Jalori Pass an hour above. Typically ₹1,000–3,000 a night in season. The valley's busiest side and its best-known; fills a week ahead on long weekends. The guesthouses on the road side of the stream have the better signal, which matters for the workation plan.

Shoja — cold, quiet, nearest the walks

The last village below the pass, 15 km and 28 minutes above Banjar: guesthouses on a bend, a deodar lane, the ridge from the terrace at dusk. Typically ₹1,000–3,000 a night in season. Half an hour nearer the Serolsar and Raghupur walks than Jibhi, and cold in every month — the bed for the October–November plan and the nearest one to the snow in winter.

Gushaini — the river, the trout, the park

Homestays along the water where the road reaches the river and the park, 10 km and 18 minutes from Banjar. Typically ₹1,500–3,500 a night in season with meals; trout at ₹400–700 a plate. The bridge is the start of every walk on the river side, and the family kitchen is the evening. Quieter than Jibhi and closer to the paths.

Nagini — the quieter stretch of river

Camps and homestays on the bank between Sai Ropa and Gushaini, 8 km and 14 minutes from Banjar, with the trout pools below and the Chhoie waterfall path above. The same band as Gushaini and a few minutes further from its shops. The bed for anglers.

Sharchi and Pekhri — the terrace and the climb

Villages on the slopes above Gushaini — Sharchi across the river by a steep side road, Pekhri on the north ridge by a steep hour's path. Homestays with the whole valley below and nobody passing, within the river band. For the view rather than the door; every start adds the side road or the path. The couples plan sleeps at Sharchi for exactly that.

Banjar — a night off the bus

The bazaar, the bus stand, the last ATMs, and rooms by the stand that suit one night between buses and nobody's three.

Cottages and resorts

Riverside cottages and the valley's few resorts sit on the river road and run typically ₹3,000–8,000 a night in season. Convenient, comfortable, and further from the valley's point than a homestay with a family kitchen.
