See the plan →Kasauli is a small cantonment hill station in Solan district, established by the British Raj in 1842. It's genuinely quiet compared to Himachal's bigger hill stations — a place for a slow walk rather than a packed itinerary, with a handful of colonial-era landmarks close together.
Christ Church, whose foundation stone was laid in 1844, and Sunset Point, about a kilometre from the bus stand, sit close to town. Monkey Point, the highest point in Kasauli, holds a Hanuman temple inside an active Air Force station — cameras aren't allowed past the gate, one reason it's covered here as a stop rather than a photographed page. Further out, Dagshai is one of the oldest cantonment towns in the district, with a 1849 jail now open as a museum, and Barog sits on the UNESCO-listed Kalka-Shimla Railway.
