Community rules for groups
Groups are for travellers to find company for a trip. These rules apply to every group, its card and its chat, alongside our Terms.
Who can take part
- Everyone needs a WhatsApp-verified Indian mobile number on their HimLocal account. One number, one account.
- Starting a group needs the Contributor level (three accepted photos or tips). The host chooses who may ask to join, up to their own level.
- Groups are for people aged 18 and over. “Women only” groups are for women. Both are your own declaration — giving a false one is a breach of these rules.
Keep it on HimLocal
- Plan in the group’s chat. Phone numbers, e-mail addresses, UPI ids and links to WhatsApp, Telegram or other apps are hidden automatically and the message is sent to our team.
- Until the host accepts you, other people see only your level and home town — never your name, photo or number.
No money
- A group can’t charge anyone to join, ask for an advance, or sell a trip. Sharing a cab or a room and splitting the cost on the day is fine.
- Guides, drivers and operators who want to sell trips list on HimLocal as a business instead — verified, with bookings paid through HimLocal.
Be safe, be decent
- No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content, impersonation, or anything that breaks the law.
- Meet in public places. Tell someone at home where you are going and with whom. Trust your instincts — you can leave a group at any time.
- HimLocal does not organise these trips and is not a party to any arrangement between travellers.
Reporting and what we do
- Every group, message and person has a “Report” button. Block anyone and they can never ask to join your groups again, and you won’t see their messages.
- Our team looks at reports and flagged messages, and acts on a complaint within 36 hours: we hide messages, remove people, take groups down, and suspend accounts that break these rules.
- We keep group messages to handle complaints and as the law requires. When you delete your account your messages stay in the group without your name.
- Complaints can also go to our Grievance Officer — see section 12 of the Terms.
