Seven nights at Jibhi with a laptop: a terrace with a signal by day, the gorge, the waterfall and Chehni Kothi after work, Raghupur and Serolsar at the weekend.
Jibhi works as a desk for a week if the room is chosen for its signal rather than its view: a guesthouse terrace on the road side of the stream, a table, the village shop for groceries. The valley's evenings — the gorge, the waterfall, the tower — are the reward for the working hours. The weekend is the pass: the fort on Saturday, the lake on Sunday, the same taxi both days.
Nothing needs booking; a week's stay gets a rate. The road minutes are measured on the actual road; the walks on the path. The signal is the one thing to test before paying.

People with a job that travels and a fortnight of leave they would rather not spend. Not for anyone who needs a meeting-grade connection every hour — the valley's signal drops with the weather — and not for the river side, which the solo slow week does from Gushaini.
Day by day
Day 1
Arrive and set up
Up the valley to Jibhi, a guesthouse with a terrace, a table and a signal — ask to test it before paying — and the week's groceries from the village shop.

Day 2
Work, then the gorge
A working day on the terrace; in the last hour of light, the walk down to the gorge at Mini Thailand and back.

Day 3
Work, then the waterfall

Day 4
A half-day off — Chehni Kothi
Work the morning, then the taxi to the Shringa Rishi road above Banjar and the short, steep climb to the tower; back by the evening call.

Day 5
Work, and the errands in Banjar

Day 6
Saturday — Jalori Pass and Raghupur Fort
The taxi up through Shoja to the pass, the hour's climb west to the fort, lunch at the dhabas, and down to Jibhi by the evening.

Day 7
Sunday — Serolsar lake
The same taxi, the other path — the ridge walk east to the lake and back, and the temple at the pass.

Day 8
Out by the river road
The last morning down the pass road and along the river to Gushaini for a look at the other side of the valley, then Aut for the afternoon bus.

Getting there
Through Aut on the Kullu highway, 24 km up the valley to Banjar and 7 km more to Jibhi. The overnight bus from Delhi's Kashmere Gate stops at Aut before the tunnel; Bhuntar's airport is 42 km from Banjar. The week ends at Gushaini on the river road, with the afternoon for the bus.
Where to stay
Jibhi, in a guesthouse chosen for its terrace and its signal — the road side of the stream is better for both than the water side — with a week's rate agreed on the first day. Shoja is quieter and colder and the signal thinner; Gushaini on the river has the better homestays and the worse connection.
Know before you go
- Test the signal in the room before paying, and have a second provider's SIM in the bag.
- Prices are bands checked in September 2026; a week's stay is negotiated once, on arrival.
- The power goes in storms. A charged laptop and a power bank cover an afternoon.
- Cash for the week from Banjar on the first errand; the café bills are small and the machines unreliable.
- Long weekends fill Jibhi — book the weekend taxi on the Friday, not the Saturday.

Is Jibhi good for a workation?
Yes, with the room chosen for its signal: the guesthouses on the road side of the stream get a usable connection most days, the village shop covers groceries, and the evenings have the gorge, the waterfall and a café. The connection drops with the weather, so anyone who needs it every hour should bring a second SIM.
How is the mobile signal and internet in the Tirthan valley?
Patchy and improving: Jibhi and Banjar have the best of it, the river road at Gushaini less, the villages above the road little, and nothing past the last houses on any path. Guesthouses at Jibhi increasingly offer their own connection; test it in the room before paying, and carry a second provider's SIM.
What does a week at Jibhi cost for one person?
Using the bands checked in September 2026: a guesthouse room ₹1,000–3,000 a night, negotiated down for a week; café meals a few hundred rupees a sitting; the weekend taxi to the pass ₹1,500–2,500 for the car, twice.
