Nagini

Nagini is a hamlet on the Tirthan between Sai Ropa and Gushaini, 8 km and 14 min from Banjar: camps and homestays on the bank, trout pools, the Chhoie fall.

What it is

A hamlet on the Tirthan between Sai Ropa and Gushaini, spread along the river with camps and homestays on the bank. The quieter stretch of the river road, with the trout pools below the camps and the path to the Chhoie waterfall leaving from it.

Getting there

From Banjar, 8 km and 14 minutes along the river road, by the valley bus or a taxi; Gushaini is a few minutes further. Camps and homestays are typically ₹1,500–3,500 a night in season with meals as of September 2026.

The day

The river in the morning — a licensed rod, or a chair on the bank — and the Chhoie path in the afternoon. It climbs through deodar and oak, steep in places, about half an hour on a path our router could not measure, to a fall with a pool. The walk along the water to Gushaini and back is the evening.

When to go

March to June and September to November. The monsoon fills the river and empties the camps; winter closes the camps and leaves the homestays.

Around it

Sai Ropa below, for the park's permit and museum. Gushaini above, the bridge and the bazaar. Sharchi across the river.

Questions people ask

How far is Nagini from Gushaini?

A few minutes down the river road — Nagini is 14 minutes from Banjar and Gushaini 18 as of September 2026, on the same road, and the walk between them along the water takes about half an hour. The valley bus stops at both; a taxi from Aut to either is typically ₹1,200–2,000 one way.

Where does the Chhoie waterfall walk start?

From the river road at Nagini, up through the forest on a path that is steep in places — about half an hour up, on a path our router could not measure, less down — to a fall with a pool at the bottom. Ask at any homestay for the start; it needs no guide, and October is its month.

Is Nagini a good place to stay?

Yes, for the river: the camps and homestays here sit on the bank between the road and the water, quieter than Gushaini's bazaar and a few minutes from it, with the trout pools below and the Chhoie path above. Typically ₹1,500–3,500 a night in season with meals, and walk-in outside the long weekends.
