Jibhi Waterfall

What it is

The fall on the stream above Jibhi, a short walk from the bridge in the village through a wooden gate and along the bank. Small, close and easy, with a pool at the bottom and a bridge or two on the way: the thing every visitor to Jibhi does on the first afternoon, and most of them again in the morning.

Getting there

From the village bridge on foot: through the gate and along the stream for a few minutes, flat. From Banjar the village is 7 km and 14 minutes up the pass road. Free, no ticket, no guide.

The visit

Half an hour is the visit; an hour if the pool is empty and the light is right. Sit on the rock beside it, not behind it. Then the stream down to Mini Thailand, the gorge below the village, which is the other short walk.

When to go

Any month the path is dry. Fullest in October, thinnest in May, a roar in the monsoon, iced at the edges from December — the winter plan walks it for the ice.
