Two slow days on Kullu's left bank: the river at Raison, the castle at Naggar, and the waterfall and dhabas above Jana, with measured road times and prices.
The left bank is the other Kullu valley: no highway, orchards instead of showrooms, and a road that stays above the river the whole way. This plan sleeps at Naggar under the castle and spends the second morning up the side valley at Jana, where the waterfall has a village of dhabas above it.
It is a slow plan on purpose — two short drives, one castle, one fall and a long lunch. The road minutes are measured on the real road; the rest is time spent rather than covered.

Who this is for
Couples, slow travellers and anyone who has seen the highway side and wants the other one. Not a plan for a tight schedule or a big group. For the town and the ridge instead, take the two-day town plan.
Day by day
Day 1
Up the right bank to Raison, and across to Naggar
A late start out of the town, an hour by the river at Raison, and the afternoon at the castle on the left bank. A night on that side, above the orchards.

Day 2
The road above Naggar to Jana and its waterfall
A short, steep drive up the side valley for the fall and the dhabas at the top of the village, then back down the left bank to the town.

Getting there
Start at Kullu and cross to the left bank; Naggar is 23 km and about 36 minutes, and Jana 29 km and about 46 minutes by the same road. Buses run Kullu–Naggar through the day and thin out towards Jana, where a taxi or your own vehicle is easier. Manali is 40 km and about 49 minutes from Kullu if the trip continues up.
Where to stay
Naggar, for the orchards and the quiet: guesthouses on the terraces above and below the castle. Raison, 15 km and 20 minutes from Kullu, if a night on the gravel by the river appeals more than a hillside. The town itself is the fallback for a late arrival.
Know before you go
- The Jana road is narrow and steep with blind bends; go up in the morning and down before the light goes.
- The dhabas at Jana cook to order and take their time — that is the point, but do not arrive starving at 15:00.
- Prices are bands checked in September 2026 and quoted on the day.
- Sundays fill the fall with day visitors from Manali; a weekday morning is a different place.
- The left bank has few fuel stops; fill up in Kullu or Patlikuhl before going up.

How far is Naggar from Kullu?
23 km and about 36 minutes by the left-bank road, which crosses the Beas below the town and stays above the river. Buses run through the day and take longer with stops. From Manali the castle is about the same distance from the other direction.
Is Jana Falls worth the drive?
For a morning, yes — the fall itself is short, and the dhabas at the top of the village serving the valley's own food are half the reason people go. It is 30 km and about 49 minutes from Kullu, up a narrow side road best driven in daylight.
Should you sleep at Naggar or go back to Kullu?
Sleep at Naggar. The village is the quiet half of the valley and the castle is worth an evening and a morning; driving back to the town costs 36 minutes each way and gives up what you came for. Kullu is the fallback if you arrive late.
