Kasol from Delhi for a weekend — two overnight buses, two days in the valley
Kasol is a weekend from Delhi on two overnight buses: out on Friday night, 494 km to Bhuntar by dawn, back on Sunday evening from the same stand. Between them are a day and a half in the valley, which is enough for the essentials — the bridge, the river path to Chalal, a night on the far bank, and Manikaran's springs on the Sunday morning before the crowd. The walks up the valley are for a longer trip.
The plan spends nothing it does not need to: the valley bus instead of taxis, a room at the bottom of the band, the langar for a meal. Every road minute is measured on the actual road; the coach times are the corporation's and slip in the monsoon.

Who this is for
Anyone in Delhi or Chandigarh with a weekend and a bus ticket. It is the two-day plan on the overnight coaches; with a Monday added, the budget three days fits Tosh in. Not for anyone who cannot sleep on a bus — two nights of it in three days is the price.
Day by day
Friday night — the bus
The state corporation's overnight coach from Kashmere Gate to Bhuntar, leaving in the evening; sit towards the front for the hairpins after Mandi, eat before boarding. The day itself is in Delhi; this is the night.
- 07:00BhuntarThe coach sets down at the Bhuntar stand around dawn, 494 km from Delhi. Tea, and the valley bus or a shared taxi from the same stand: 32 km up the Parvati, about 70 minutes by car and a little more by bus.
Saturday — the river and the far bank
Into Kasol by mid-morning, a room, and the valley's essentials on foot — the bridge, the path to Chalal, the river — with an early night after the bus.
- 09:30ChojCash from the Kasol ATM before it empties and breakfast in the market, then over the vehicle bridge to the hamlet on the water: camps and rooms typically ₹800–2,500 a night in season as of Sep 2026, walk-in outside the long weekends. The river path to Chalal starts here.
- ↓ 6 min by road · 3 km12:00ChalalTwenty minutes along the far bank through the pines. Lunch at a café on the path, the river all afternoon, dinner in the village, and the walk back over the bridge with a torch — or a room here and no walk at all.
Sunday — Manikaran early, and the bus home
The gurdwara and the hot springs at their emptiest, the langar for breakfast, an hour in Kasol's market, and the valley bus down to Bhuntar for the evening coach to Delhi.
- 08:00Gurudwara Sahib ManikaranEight minutes up the road on the first bus: heads covered, shoes off, the tanks under the building, the langar for breakfast, the steam over the river. Nothing to pay. Back down by eleven, before the day-trip buses arrive.
- ↓ 27 min by road · 12 km14:00JariThe valley bus down through Jari, 19 minutes below Kasol, to Bhuntar in about an hour more. The evening coaches to Delhi leave from the Bhuntar stand; book the seat with the outbound one.
Getting there
The overnight coach from ISBT Kashmere Gate to Bhuntar or Kullu, booked a few days ahead for weekends; the corporation's coaches are the reliable ones and the private operators leave from the same area. From Chandigarh, the evening buses to Kullu do the same job in five to six hours. Bhuntar to Kasol is the valley bus or a shared taxi from the stand.
Where to stay
Chalal, for the one night, so the Saturday ends on the river rather than with a walk back over the bridge; or the market, for the earliest Sunday bus. Either way the cheapest room in the band is fine for a night after a bus and before another.
Know before you go
- Book both coach seats together, a few days ahead for a weekend; the Sunday evening buses fill first.
- Prices are bands checked in September 2026; a long-weekend Saturday runs above them and needs a call the day before.
- Sit towards the front of the coach for the hairpins after Mandi; eat before boarding.
- Cash from the Kasol ATM on Saturday morning before it empties.
- Be at the Bhuntar stand an hour before the evening coach; the valley bus runs to a loose timetable.
If plans change
Three days: the budget three days by bus adds Tosh on the Monday.
By car: the two-day plan is the same valley with a driver and no bus nights.

How do I get to Kasol from Delhi for a weekend?
The overnight coach from ISBT Kashmere Gate on Friday evening, 494 km to Bhuntar by dawn, then the valley bus or a shared taxi 32 km up to Kasol, about 70 minutes by car. Back the same way on Sunday evening from the Bhuntar stand, in Delhi by Monday morning. Book both seats together.
Is a weekend enough for Kasol?
For the essentials, yes: the bridge, the river path and a night on the far bank at Chalal on the Saturday, and Manikaran's springs on the Sunday morning before the buses. The walks up the valley — Tosh, Kheerganga — need a third day; the budget plan adds a Monday for Tosh.
How much does a Kasol weekend from Delhi cost?
Two coach seats, a night's room at the bottom of the ₹800–2,500 band checked in September 2026, the valley bus at a few tens of rupees a leg, café meals in the hundreds and the langar free. The coaches are the biggest line; everything in the valley on this plan is walked to.
