Choj is the hamlet at the end of the bridge road across the Parvati from Kasol: camps and guesthouses on the water, minutes from the market, apart from it.

What it is

The hamlet at the end of the bridge road across the Parvati from Kasol: camps and guesthouses on the water, a few cafés, and the river a few metres away. It is the near end of the far bank — Chalal is twenty minutes further along the river path — and it suits people who want to sleep beside the water without the walk.

Getting there

A few minutes on foot from the market over the vehicle bridge and along the far bank, or two by taxi with bags. The river path to Chalal continues from it.

The day

Choj is where you sleep; the days are the valley's. Breakfast by the river, the market across the bridge for the taxi stand and the bakeries, Manikaran eight minutes up the road, and the river path to Chalal for the evening. Groups take the camps for the bonfires; couples usually go on to Chalal.

When to go

March to June and September to November for the river at its best; the camps close or thin out in the monsoon and the winter, when the guesthouses carry on.

How far is Choj from Kasol?

A few minutes on foot over the vehicle bridge and along the far bank, or two by taxi; it is the near end of the far bank, with Chalal twenty minutes further along the river path. Close enough to the market for dinner, far enough for the river to be the only sound at night.

Is Choj a good place to stay?

For groups and anyone who wants to sleep beside the water without the walk to Chalal, yes — tents with beds, guesthouses, bonfires in the evening. It is livelier than Chalal and quieter than the market; rooms and camps are in the same band as Kasol, typically ₹800–2,500 a night in season as of September 2026.

Is Choj quieter than Kasol?

Quieter than the market street, louder than Chalal. The camps run bonfires in the evening and groups take them over on weekends; the guesthouses at the far end of the hamlet are calmer. The river covers most sounds after ten. For silence, walk the twenty minutes on to Chalal instead.
