How this list is built

Sorted by distance from Jawalamukhi, because that is how a day here gets planned: what is a walk, what needs a car. The minutes are our own road routing. Each entry sits inside one of our copyable itineraries.

Questions people ask

What are the best things to do in Jwalamukhi?

Visit the Jwalamukhi Temple, where a natural flame burns from a rock fissure, then choose between the Pong reservoir for birds in winter, the rock-cut temples at Masrur for architecture, and Chintpurni for another of the five Shakti Peeths. The Kangra Fort is 45 minutes away.

What can you do in Jwalamukhi for free?

Walk the town and its temple compound, and look at the Pong reservoir from its shore. We have no verified entry fees for the temple, Masrur or the fort, so ask locally. The main costs are a taxi and any boat or water sport, for which we have no verified prices.

How many days do you need around Jwalamukhi?

One day covers the temple and the Pong lake. A second day adds Masrur and the Kangra Fort. Chintpurni can fill a half-day on either, and the five Shakti Peeths together take a long weekend. Most visitors treat the town as a stop on the way to Dharamshala.
