Questions people ask
What are the best things to do in Kalpa?
Watch the Kinnaur Kailash range from the village, walk the old lanes of Chini with its temples and fort tower, and visit the Chandika Devi Temple at Kothi, 17 minutes away. Reckong Peo, 20 minutes down the hill, is the market town and fits a second day.
What can you do in Kalpa for free?
Walk the lanes of Chini, look at the temples from outside and watch the range. None of it has a fixed entry fee that we know of. The only real cost is a taxi to Kothi and Reckong Peo, so budget for that and ask at the temple about any donation.
How many days do you need in Kalpa?
One day covers the old village and Kothi. A second day adds Reckong Peo and a slower look at the range. Kalpa is also a stop on a longer journey between Shimla and Spiti, and a night here breaks the long road at a high, quiet village.
