Neuli

What it is

The village where the Sainj valley opens out and the road forks: one arm climbs south to the meadow at Shangarh, the other carries on east up the river towards the park's gate at Ropa. Homestays on the terraces, orchards behind them, and the river loud below.

Getting there

10 km and about 17 minutes from Sainj — allow 25 on this road. Buses come up from the junction; above Neuli they thin out, which is the practical reason people who want the meadow at dawn sleep further up.

Staying

This is the valley's bed. Homestays on the terraces run ₹1,200–2,800 a night with meals as of September 2026, and they are family houses rather than hotels: one or two rooms, dinner at the family's hour, and a bucket of hot water when you ask. The evening is the river and the dark.

Around it

The meadow is 9 km further on; the park's gate at Ropa is back down and along the other arm, 13 minutes from the village. Dehuri and the hamlets on the south bank are between here and the highway. The two-day plan sleeps here.
