This is the day for someone passing through — a stopover between Amritsar and Manali, or a single free day tacked onto a longer Himachal trip. It covers the two things McLeod Ganj is actually known for — the Dalai Lama's temple and Bhagsu Falls — without the extra days a full visit would take.

Know before you go
- The temple gets busy with tour groups by mid-morning — go at opening if you want it quiet.
- Bhagsu gets crowded after 10am on weekends. A weekday visit is noticeably calmer.
- Photography inside the main temple hall is usually restricted — check the posted signs at the entrance.

Can you see McLeod Ganj in one day?
You can see the two headline sights — the Dalai Lama's temple and Bhagsu waterfall — in one day, plus a walk around the Mall. You will not have time for Triund, Norbulingka or the day trips to Kangra Fort or Masrur; those need at least one more day each.
Is the temple free to enter?
Yes, entry to the Tsuglagkhang complex (the Dalai Lama's temple) is free of charge for everyone. Expect a security check at the gate before you go in, and dress modestly, the same as you would for any other active place of worship in the region.
How do I get from the temple to Bhagsu?
A taxi or auto covers it in well under fifteen minutes, or it's a walkable but uphill-then-downhill route if you'd rather see the town on foot. Most first-time visitors take a taxi both ways to save time for the walk down to the waterfall itself.
