How to reach Nahan — road, rail, nearest airport

A road town

Nahan has no station and no airport of its own. It is reached on National Highway 7 and National Highway 907A, and the main bus stand is in the centre of town.

By road from Chandigarh

The most direct route is about 86 km and 86 minutes, by way of Panchkula, Naraingarh and Kala Amb. Buses and taxis run it regularly, and Chandigarh Airport is the practical gateway for visitors flying in.

By rail via Ambala

Take a mainline train to Ambala, about 68 km and 73 minutes from Nahan by road. Barara and Kalka are the other nearest stations, and regular buses connect all of them to Nahan.

From Dehradun and Paonta Sahib

Dehradun is about 90 km and 102 minutes away, through Paonta Sahib. Paonta Sahib itself is 44 km and about an hour from Nahan, which makes the two easy to combine; see the Paonta Sahib guide.

From Shimla

About 166 km and just over four hours by road, by way of Solan and Kumarhatti. A long day, best broken with a stop.

Getting around once you're there

Nahan Fort and Rani Tal are within the town and easy on foot. Trilokpur Temple is a 45-minute drive, so a taxi is the practical choice, at typically ₹1,800–2,800 for a day to Jaitak Fort and Trilokpur. See the two-day plan and when to visit.
