Two days around Sarahan — Bhimakali, Rampur and the temples of Nirmand
Two days that follow the Satluj: the Bhimakali Temple at Sarahan and the old winter capital of Rampur Bushahr on the first day, then the temples of Nirmand on the second. The one-day plan does the first half only.
Timing is in when to visit Sarahan, and the stops are in things to do in Sarahan.

Know before you go
- We have no verified temple hours or rules; ask in Sarahan and Nirmand before you plan around them.
- Rampur is the practical base; fill the tank there before going on, and keep the day-two drive back to Sarahan or Shimla for the afternoon.

All Sarahan itineraries →Questions people ask
Is two days around Sarahan too long?
Not if you want Nirmand. The first day covers the Bhimakali Temple and Rampur Bushahr, and Nirmand is a further 17 km up the valley, so it needs its own morning. If you only want the temple and the old trading town, the one-day plan is enough.
Where should you stay on the night between the days?
In Rampur Bushahr, which is a working town on the Satluj with the most rooms, or in Nirmand if you prefer a village, where homestays and a small rest house give basic rooms. Sarahan is too far back up the hill to return to between the days.
Can you drive back to Sarahan from Nirmand in one go?
Yes. Nirmand is about 58 km and 115 minutes from Sarahan by road on our routing, so leave in the early afternoon. Many visitors go on to Shimla or into Kinnaur instead, since the plan finishes on the highway at Rampur anyway.
