Best time to visit Ranikhet — the pine ridges through the year

When to visit Ranikhet: March to October suits most, winters are very cold with snow from December to February, and the snow peaks show best in clear weather.

Ranikhet stands at about 1,869 m, among pine, oak, rhododendron and deodar forest. Wikipedia describes its seasons in words only and gives no weather table, so we give no monthly figures.

March to June

Wikipedia calls March to October the best months to enjoy the town, with moderate summers. The days are good for the walking: the Haidakhan Babaji Temple and the Jhula Devi Temple are both a short drive from the centre.

July to September

The rainy months. We have no verified rainfall for Ranikhet, but cloud hides the peaks and landslides can slow the hill roads, so travel with spare time and check the road each morning.

October and November

The rains are over and the air is clearer. Wikivoyage says the Nanda Devi range shows from most places in clear weather from November, and after rain, so a freshly washed morning is the one to wait for.

December to February

Very cold, with the year's snow, mainly in these three months. The views can be superb, and the Dwarahat day is best postponed if snow is forecast on the hill roads.
