Tehri Lake — boating and water sports on the reservoir of the Tehri Dam
What it is
Tehri Lake is the reservoir behind the Tehri Dam, about 52 km² of water filling the old valleys of the Bhagirathi and the Bhilangna. It lies below New Tehri, and the boating point on its shore is the place to start on the water.

The Tehri district administration lists the lake's activities as boating, jet boat rides, water skiing, zorbing, banana, bandwagon and hot-dog boat rides, and paragliding over the water, and says the state wants to make the lake a centre of adventure sport. We have no verified operators, prices or timings, and not every activity runs every day, so ask at the boating point.
When to go
The district names April to June as the best time, when days at Tehri run about 25.3 to 28.2°C. October and November are the clearest months, with almost no rain. July and August bring 271.5 mm and 226.5 mm, and hill roads can be cut by landslides.
