Tani Jubbar Lake
What it is
Tani Jubbar, also written Tanni Jubbar, is a small lake in fir forest near Narkanda. It is still and shallow, with trees on both banks, and the usual reason to stop is the reflection. Little is published about it, so this guide gives no depth, age or legend.

Getting there
By road it is 10 km and about 21 minutes from the town, on a side road through the forest. Allow a little more on a wet or snowy day.
The visit
Walk to the water and along the bank, and look at the trees reflected in it. It is a quiet stop with little else to do, so it works best as the second half of a morning that began at Hatu Peak.
When to go
April to June and after the monsoon are the easy months. See when to visit Narkanda.
Around it
Hatu Peak is the other stop in the forest, and Kotgarh is the next village down. Both plans include the lake: the one-day plan and the two-day plan.

Questions people ask
Where is Tani Jubbar Lake?
In the forest near Narkanda, about 10 km and 21 minutes by road from the centre of the town, on a side road off the main highway. The lake is small and still, with fir trees on both banks, so most visitors stop for the reflections rather than for any activity.
How long should you spend there?
Thirty minutes is enough to walk to the water and look around. It pairs naturally with Hatu Peak, which is 18 minutes from Narkanda in the other direction, so many visitors take both in a single relaxed morning before lunch in town.
Is it worth going outside the summer months?
Yes, with care. The reflections are at their clearest on still, dry days in April to June and after the monsoon. From November to March snow covers the town and the side roads, so check conditions before you set out and keep a flexible plan.
