Beas Kund from Manali — a five-day trek plan

About this departure

Beas Kund is a small glacial lake at the head of the Solang valley, held by legend as the place where the sage Vyas bathed — the river Beas takes his name. The trek is short and rewarding: meadows at Dhundi and Bakar Thach, then moraine up to the lake, with Hanuman Tibba, Friendship Peak and Shitidhar standing right above you. A good first high-altitude trek.

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Manali → Solang → Bakar Thach
   A short drive to Solang, then the walk past Dhundi into the meadows of Bakar Thach. Camp under the peaks.
2. Bakar Thach → Beas Kund → Bakar Thach
   Up the moraine to the lake, time at the top, back to camp.
3. Bakar Thach → Solang → Manali
   Down the valley to Solang and the drive back.
